Right now, I’m deep into a mix of thrilling books, binge-worthy shows, and podcasts that either feed my guilty pleasures or lift me up. If you’re looking for some recommendations to match the spooky vibes of this season or just to entertain and inspire you, here’s what’s keeping me hooked.
Books
I’m starting with what I’m loving most in my reading world—the Housemaid Trilogy by Frieda McFadden. It’s seriously the perfect thriller series for spooky season. If you’re a fan of thrillers that are gripping and eerie, these are for you. Frieda takes you through so many twists and turns you can't possibly anticipate what's coming next. The stakes are high, the suspense is real, and you’re left constantly on edge. I’m someone who loves a good psychological thriller, and these books deliver. They’re just the right blend of creepy and thought-provoking, making them my top pick as Halloween approaches.
Another book I couldn’t put down is Bye, Baby by Carola Lovering. If you’re into suspense, Lovering has you covered. This novel really plays with the tension of love, betrayal, and secrets. What I love about it is how it slowly peels back layers, making you question every character’s intentions. It’s the kind of book that keeps you guessing until the end, which is exactly what I crave in a suspense novel. It’s intense but not overwhelming, perfect for when you want to get lost in a story but not feel totally spooked out.
TV Shows
When I’m not reading, I’m definitely indulging in some TV. Lately, I’ve been hooked on Tell Me Lies, which is actually based on another book by Carola Lovering. This show dives into the complexities of toxic relationships, secrets, and manipulation, all wrapped up in a love story. It’s dark and messy in the best way, exploring how people can be drawn to one another despite knowing the relationship isn’t healthy. I love how it translates the book’s tension and drama onto the screen—if you’re into that slow-burn drama, this is a must-watch.
Another show I’m excited about is Nobody Wants This, a new Netflix series starring Adam Brody and Kristen Bell. It’s got this intriguing mix of dark humor and suspense, which is such a rare combination. Both actors are amazing, and the plot keeps you guessing. If you’re looking for something fresh that will keep you on your toes but also give you some laughs along the way, this show is a perfect pick.
Podcasts
On the podcast front, I’ve got two that I’m loving for very different reasons. First is The Toast with Jackie and Claudia Oshry, which is my total guilty pleasure. It’s all about celebrity news, pop culture, and the kind of light, entertaining content that’s perfect for when I just want to unwind. Their commentary is hilarious, and honestly, it’s the best way to catch up on all the celebrity gossip without diving into it too seriously.
On the other end of the spectrum, I’ve been really enjoying the Whoa That’s Good podcast with Sadie Robertson. It’s a more wholesome, faith-based podcast that’s full of uplifting conversations. I turn to it when I’m in need of some encouragement or just want to listen to something positive and faith-filled. Sadie has a way of bringing out great insights from her guests, and it always leaves me feeling inspired and refreshed.
So, that’s what I’m consuming right now! It’s a mix of thrillers, intense dramas, light gossip, and uplifting content—something for every mood and moment.
